Small wins go a long way on the road to your dream self.

Building habits can be tough. When we first start, we feel excitement and satisfaction from completing new habits. We’re focused on who those habits will turn us into. Sometimes it even feels like we will magically transform into the person we’re aiming for over night, so long as we complete our new habits.

Sometimes our excited feeling wane, and we are presented with an opportunity to “fall off the wagon”. This is precisely the moment we must overcome. No matter how bad you feel, how little you want to do that habit today, or how sure you are that you’ll do it tomorrow. No excuses, you had no problem doing the habit yesterday so get back to it.

By overcoming these periods of doubt, we quite literally strengthen our mental power over our habits. You’re teaching yourself where your boundaries are, and how to push beyond them. These moments of discomfort are what lead to lasting change and self empowerment. By overcoming the discomfort, you are able to experience a win, and these wins will very quickly begin to add up.

The good thing about the power of winning, is that small goes a long way. Even the smallest of wins can carry over to greater mastery of ones life. They say that just making the bed in the morning can help you organize the rest of your life better. Find some small change that you couldn’t possibly say no to, and go do it. Keep doing it, every day because its such an easy thing that there is no reason not to.

By proving to yourself with small wins that “you can do this” you are flexing your mental muscles to accomplish even more things. When you’re ready to tackle bigger habits, and in turn bigger wins, start with habits pertaining to things you know you enjoy. I myself find enjoyment in reading and writing, so its easy for me to coax myself into at least spending some time each day on those practices.

Use your dream self as a compass for your habits. You must BE the person that would DO the things required to HAVE those things which you want. So BE that person, and create those habits so you will easily DO all the things needed to acquire all that you wish to HAVE. We must start by BEing the person that we wish to be, before we can even hope to have what comes with that life.

There are no shortcuts, except the shortcut of the decision to truly BE the person you wish to be. That decision can be made at any time, no matter how vague the answer is.
