New forms of human computer interaction will grow from AR and VR use cases. But the keyboard isn’t likely to leave. Just as handwriting still exists. What’s more likely is technology built to emulate what we already enjoy about keyboards but with more fidelity. Think haptic gloves that generate a QWERTY style keyboard floating wherever the user needs it, sitting or standing, with their hands together or apart. This sort of advancement solves all the issues of current day keyboard limitations while retaining all the reasons QWERTY has been such a sticky technology. And, it’s entirely possible.
