I recently read Hooked as well, and I had never thought to apply Nir’s framework to Slack.
I use slack due to its incredible utility, and of course the speed of communication between a diverse team. It works so well for me that I would have never considered it a “habit forming product”. But that’s just it isn’t it, it is the very fact that it is so useful that it creates habits so easily.
There may be a dark side to the “habit” for the micro-managers using Slack, but for those of us with trusted teams it will healthily find its way into our habits.
Thank you for the fresh perspective!
