Does it prove anything yet? The company is mixing etherium and a VR environment, but what’s stopping developers and users alike from ignoring Decentraland entirely? Why subject to a digital copy of physical real estate when the digital world itself has no physical boundaries? Why pay for this “real” estate when platforms like Sansar offer more for free?

While Snow Crash and it’s depiction of “the road” are fun thought experiments, I’m not sure digital real estate models make sense outside of a limited game environment(like a Minecraft multiplayer server, or an MMORPG) Only time will tell, and I applaud teams like decentraland for planting their flags this early on.

Truth be told, companies like Blizzard with their millions of existing fans have the best chance at creating digital real estate based economies. But the digital world is our opportunity to create economies free from physical real estate, why go backwards?

Thanks for the article, another insightful read!
