Definitely the right place to start. HMDs will be niche for another year or so. Mass adopting in 2 or more years, at least as far as gaming and entertainment is concerned.

5 years early adopters will abandon smartphones for AR headsets(stylish glasses) and 10 years smartphones will be waning in existence.

I suppose my opinion is that everything you have mentioned is entirely correct, and development will continue at a similar pace in regards to HMDs and fashionable AR (mixed reality) glasses aimed at the masses.

My Echo has become an integral piece of my daily life. I find myself asking Alexa for help even when she isn’t around.

I’ll admit to using the term ‘virtual reality’ more loosely than some, but it is the umbrella term for the remainder considering mixed reality is not real in the sense of nature. Even a place like Starbucks is a virtual reality, built of physical components so it is easy to mistake as reality. At the end of the day users/customers/visitors are being told a story. And stories are inherently virtual, whether truth or fiction.
